This place is a little gem that I drove by for 9 years. My mistake. My wife and I like food with a lot of flavor, this restaurant has very good salsa, fresh chips and the food was better than expected. We almost always drove into Medford because the reviews at a different Mexican place had such bad reviews. I'm ashamed to admit we could have been eating very good food at Juan's El Cappral but we just drove by because we hadn't noticed this place. El Caporal is definitely a great example of the old adage “you can’t tell a book by its cover.” Driving up parking in a dirt lot with ruts and potholes you are accosted by a green building that appears to be painted by a crew in a hurry using whatever leftover paint on hand. Don’t worry go inside and a world of difference awaits you. Pleasing colors, plants, and decor immediately bring you into a comfortable place. Oh dear, where to start...the food here is absolutely terrific!! The meat is cooked perfectly, and they've got the spices spot-on! It's a bit of a drive, but we'll worth it...truly!! Everything tastes so fresh and it is plated well!! 👍The price is reasonable, so bring the family!...(you can skip the margarita, only so-so.)
The original Green Box, come try this restaurant out and you will see why locals call it that! Authentic, longstanding Mexican restaurant in Eagle Point. Always friendly staff, always fresh ingredients and always busy. Family friends. Classic dishes. Adult beverages. Long time Southern Oregon restaurant, over 20 years with consistently the same great tasting food.
I'm sitting in the restaurant as I'm writing this review. This is my husband's and my favorite place to eat. We've been to every other place in the valley and we always come back to this spot The food is always good. If there is a mistake they fix it immediately. The staff are always so friendly and accommodating, and the prices aren't through the roof. I will always come back to this place.
